Why Black At The Office?

Workplace diversity has become a common buzzphrase over the past few years as companies highlight their desire to have their workforces reflect their customer bases. While the news stories and PR efforts have been substantial surrounding diversity in the workplace, the actual on-the-ground numbers are different, especially regarding African-Americans.

Look around corporate America, and African-American representation is hardly visible in positions of power. We are under-represented among jobs paying at least $80,000 a year, on corporate leadership/management teams, Boards of Directors, and CEO offices. In addition, starting salaries don’t reflect those of our peers. Yet, companies can continue to push the narrative of being diverse without actually having to PROVE it!

With Black at the Office, we hold organizations accountable and showcase those that genuinely want to be better at diversity.
